Torrey

Torrey scales come from Grupo Torrey of Monterrey, Mexico, a food-equipment maker whose price computing, label printing and washdown scales are a fixture at meat counters, carnicerías, delis and produce stands across North America. In the U.S. the line is supported by Tor Rey USA in Houston, and MNM Scales keeps Torrey scales, labels, batteries and power supplies on the shelf in Cypress, TX for quick replacement.

For a full buying guide by scale type, see our Torrey scales category page. This page is a quick map of the Torrey model names, the supplies that fit them and the service we provide.

Where Torrey fits

Torrey is built for retail food: selling meat, cheese, produce and prepared food by weight. If you are comparing brands for a counter, browse all price computing scales, label printing scales and washdown scales, or read our guide to choosing a deli scale with a label printer.

Torrey calibration, placing in service and repair

A scale used to sell by weight in Texas must be an NTEP model and placed in service. We calibrate Torrey scales in our Cypress, TX shop before they ship, priced by capacity:

A scale whose capacity is exactly at a tier limit uses the lower tier.

The 40 lb LPC, PC and W-LABEL models fall in the 6.2–35 kg tier, and the 100 and 200 lb EQB models in the 35–150 kg tier. MNM Scales is TDA licensed with registered technicians for all scale classes; see legal-for-trade scale calibration in Texas and TDA scale certification. For a Torrey that will not power up, drifts or prints faint labels, our scale repair team works on site across the Houston area.

Torrey brand FAQ

Who makes Torrey scales?

Torrey scales are made by Grupo Torrey in Monterrey, Mexico, which also builds meat grinders, slicers and refrigeration for the food trade.

What do the Torrey model letters mean?

LPC and PC are price computing scales, the T suffix adds a tower display, W-LABEL is the label printing line and EQB is the bench scale line, with W marking the waterproof washdown versions.

Which battery fits an older LPC-40L?

Models built before 2018 take a 6V battery, and newer models take the 4V battery. Check the old battery label, or call us with the serial number.

Which Torrey labels fit my scale?

Some rolls fit both the LSQ-40L and the W-LABEL, and others fit one model. Each label listing names the scales it fits, so order by model.

Can you place a new Torrey scale in service in Texas?

Yes. We calibrate, test and place NTEP Torrey scales in service for Texas businesses.
