Reviewed by MNM Scales technicians · Updated November 5, 2026 · Prices checked November 5, 2026
Short answer: outfit a warehouse scale stack by station — a floor kit for receiving, a counting scale for cycle counts, and a bench scale for pack-out — then match NTEP where you sell or ship by weight. In stock: the Brecknell 5,000 lb floor scale kit (SBI-505 NTEP, platform not included) at $599, the MNM Scales MS-20K 20,000 lb floor scale kit at $399, the Rice Lake DC-782 counting scale (60 lb x 0.01 lb) at $484.99, and the A&D SJ-20KHS pack-out scale (44 lb x 0.02 lb) at $195. This guide is for warehouse and 3PL managers who need the right scale at each station. For deeper floor-platform choices see the floor scale buying guide; for counting detail see the counting scale buying guide; for oversized parcels see shipping scale for large packages. MNM Scales has sold, calibrated and repaired scales for over 30 years from Cypress, Texas.

Rules: NTEP for warehouse weighing
Internal cycle counts and process checks are in-house use. Selling or parcel rating by weight is commercial, and the scale has to be legal for trade. The Brecknell 5,000 lb kit pairs with an NTEP SBI-505 indicator; confirm the finished platform installation with us before trade use. Our NTEP guide explains certificates, and we handle legal-for-trade scale calibration in Texas.
Texas note: TDA does not require an NTEP certificate for every device, but the scale must meet NIST Handbook 44 and suit its use; some scales do need one, so we recommend NTEP models and can check yours. See TDA’s scales used in trade guidance (PDF) and our TDA scale certification guide, or call us or TDA to confirm your use.
Calibration and rental
- Floor kits over 150 kg: our TDA-registered technicians calibrate in-house with a certificate at $495 or with a NIST-traceable certificate at $995.
- DC-782 and SJ-20KHS (6.2–35 kg class): in-house calibration $250 or NIST-traceable $595.
- On-site service: $295 + $2 per mile per visit across the Houston area, plus calibration per scale; see on-site calibration and scale calibration Houston.
- Mail-in and rentals: use mail-in calibration and scale rental Houston while a station scale is in for service. Ask via contact us for a rental quote — pricing is quoted per job.

Frequently asked questions
What warehouse scale do I need for receiving?
A floor scale or floor-scale kit sized for your heaviest pallet or cart. In-stock kits here cover 5,000 lb and 20,000 lb builds.
What scale is best for cycle counts?
A counting scale with enough internal resolution for your smallest part. The Rice Lake DC-782 at 60 lb x 0.01 lb is one in-stock option.
What about pack-out on a bench?
A compact bench or portion scale handles cartons and totes on a packing table. The A&D SJ-20KHS weighs 44 lb x 0.02 lb.
Do warehouse scales need to be NTEP?
If you sell or ship by weight as trade, yes. The Brecknell 5,000 lb kit with SBI-505 is NTEP-marked; call us to match legal-for-trade gear to your stations.
Do you calibrate warehouse scales?
Yes. Floor kits over 150 kg use $495 in-house or $995 NIST-traceable. Counting and bench models in the 6.2–35 kg class use $250 / $595. On-site is $295 + $2 per mile.
