Checkweighing scales tell your team in an instant whether a package, portion or part is under, within or over its target weight. MNM Scales stocks bench checkweighers from A&D, Brecknell, Adam Equipment, Intelligent Weighing Technology and MNM Scales, from $159 compact checkweighers to stainless-platform production checkweighers, all with free shipping.
How a checkweigher scale works
You set a target with high and low limits. As each item is placed on the platform, colored lights or an on-screen bar show under (often yellow), accept (green) or over (red). Operators react to color, so lines move faster and give-away drops. Many checkweighers also count parts and send results over RS-232 or USB. Our checkweigher scale guide covers setting limits and tolerances.

Where checkweighers pay off
Food portioning and packaging
Portion meat, cheese, produce and snacks to a target weight and cut give-away. In wet areas, choose a stainless washdown checkweigher such as the A&D FS-15Ki or Brecknell C3236. See all washdown scales.
Kit and carton verification
Weigh finished kits or cartons to catch missing parts before shipping. Pair a checkweigher with a counting scale in the stockroom for full coverage.
Bottling and fill checks
Check fill weights on bottles, caps and jars at the end of the line. A fine readability such as 0.002 lb or 0.1 g catches small differences.
Selling by weight
When the checked weight also sets the price, choose an NTEP approved model. Browse NTEP legal-for-trade scales or NTEP bench scales.
Choosing a checkweighing scale
- Capacity: match your heaviest item plus its container; 30–35 lb covers most packages and portions.
- Readability: pick a step at least 10 times finer than your tolerance band.
- Display: large tri-color lights for busy lines; bar graphs for fine adjustment.
- Construction: stainless and IP-rated for washdown; painted steel for dry packing areas.
- Outputs: RS-232 or USB for logging results, and relay outputs for sorting equipment where offered.

Checkweigher calibration
Add calibration and we calibrate your checkweigher at our Cypress, TX shop before shipping. Pricing follows maximum capacity:
| Scale maximum capacity |
In-house calibration with NIST-tested weights |
NIST calibration with NIST-traceable certificate |
| 2.2–6.2 kg (4.85–13.7 lb) |
$195 |
$495 |
| 6.2–35 kg (13.7–77 lb) |
$250 |
$595 |
| 35–150 kg (77–330 lb) |
$350 |
$750 |
A scale whose capacity is exactly at a tier limit uses the lower tier.
A 30 lb or 60 lb checkweigher falls in the 6.2–35 kg tier, and a 100 lb model in the 35–150 kg tier. Calibration usually takes 1–3 business days after receipt. Already have checkweighers on your line? Use mail-in calibration, or book on-site service.
On-site service for production lines
MNM Scales is TDA licensed with registered technicians for all scale classes. Our technicians calibrate and repair checkweighers on-site across Houston and the surrounding suburbs, with Dallas, Austin and San Antonio on request. On-site service is $295 plus $2 per mile round trip, charged once per visit, with calibration priced per scale, so calibrating a whole line in one visit keeps the cost per scale down. See scale calibration in Houston and scale repair.
Checkweighing scale FAQ
What is a checkweigher scale?
A checkweigher is a scale that compares each item to a target weight and signals under, accept or over, usually with colored lights. It speeds up portioning, packing and quality checks.
What is the difference between a checkweigher and a regular bench scale?
A bench scale shows weight. A checkweigher shows weight plus a pass/fail result against limits you set, so operators can work by color at line speed.
Can a checkweighing scale also count parts?
Many can. The MNM Scales IDS-811 combines counting and checkweighing in one portable scale, and the MNM Scales HGS-15K pairs a stainless checkweigher with counting.
Which checkweigher is best for food production?
Choose a stainless washdown model with an IP rating and NSF listing, such as the A&D FS-15Ki (IP65, NSF listed).
How do I set checkweigher limits?
Enter the target weight, then the low and high limits as either weights or a plus/minus tolerance. The checkweigher scale guide shows examples for portions and packaging.
Do you ship checkweighers calibrated?
Yes. Add an in-house or NIST calibration in the matching tier and we calibrate before shipping. Shipping is free.
Can I get a quote for several checkweighers?
Yes. Call (832) 290-3120 or contact us 24/7 for wholesale pricing.
