How to choose an industrial scale

• Capacity with headroom. Pick a capacity above your heaviest load, including pallets, bins or totes. See scale capacity and readability.
• Where the weight is. Small parts and cartons go on a bench scale, pallets go on a floor scale, hoisted loads go on a crane scale, and tanks or hoppers sit on load cells.

Calibration and Texas placed-in-service

Industrial scales can be calibrated in our Cypress, TX shop or on-site. Calibration is priced by maximum capacity:

A scale whose capacity is exactly at a tier limit uses the lower tier.

The 30 lb HV-15KCP falls in the 6.2–35 kg tier, the 150 lb HV-60KCP falls in the 35–150 kg tier, and the 500 lb HV-200KCP and every floor, forklift and tank system fall in the top tier. Shop calibration usually takes 1–3 business days after we receive the scale. MNM Scales is TDA licensed with registered technicians for all scale classes, and we handle the RWM-780 and RWM-700 paperwork when a trade scale is placed in service in Texas. Our technicians calibrate, install and repair scales on-site across the Houston area and surrounding suburbs, with Dallas, Austin and San Antonio on request. What counts as an industrial scale?

Any scale built for plant, warehouse or yard work: bench and platform scales, floor scales, crane scales, forklift scales and load cell systems for tanks and hoppers.

Do I need an NTEP industrial scale?

Yes, if you buy, sell or ship by weight. In Texas, the scale also has to be placed in service.

Can a tank or hopper be turned into a scale?

Yes. Mounting it on compression load cells with a junction box and indicator turns it into a scale.

How often should an industrial scale be calibrated?
