A&D EK-i Series: Every Everest Model from EK-120i to EK-12Ki
Short answer: the A&D EK-i (Everest) series is thirteen compact balances on one platform, from the EK-120i (120 g x 0.01 g) to the EK-12Ki (12 kg x 1 g). Five models read 0.01 g on a 110 mm round pan; the rest read 0.1 g or 1 g on a 133 x 170 mm pan. Four are NTEP approved: the EK-1200i and EK-12Ki at Class II, and the EK-600i and EK-6000i at Class III. All use external calibration, the same keypad, display, RS-232C port and option slot.

A&D EK-1200i guide series
- EK-1200i manual, explained: setup, units, counting, RS-232 and power
- A&D EK-i series: every model from EK-120i to EK-12Ki (you are here)
- EK-1200i vs EK-610i: 0.1 g NTEP or 0.01 g?

Every EK-i balance shares the same body, keys, backlit display, RS-232C port, counting, percent and comparator modes, and option slot. What changes is capacity, readability, pan size and whether the model is on the NTEP certificate. Matching those four to your work means you pay only for the resolution you need and keep trade weighing on an approved model. Specs below were checked against A&D’s product pages, the EK-i/EW-i instruction manual and NTEP Certificate of Conformance 04-019A3 on October 31, 2026.

NTEP and non-NTEP EK-i models
NTEP Certificate of Conformance 04-019A3 lists four EK-i models (and two EW-i models, the EW-1500i and EW-12Ki, at Class III):
- EK-1200i: 1200 g x 0.1 g, Class II, 12,000 divisions
- EK-12Ki: 12,000 g x 1 g, Class II, 12,000 divisions, with under-scale weighing on the certificate
- EK-600i: 600 g x 0.1 g, Class III, 6,000 divisions
- EK-6000i: 6,000 g x 1 g, Class III, 6,000 divisions, with under-scale weighing on the certificate
The other nine (EK-120i, EK-200i, EK-300i, EK-410i, EK-610i, EK-2000i, EK-3000i, EK-4100i and EK-6100i) are built for lab, production and inventory work rather than pricing by weight. Class II covers precious metals and other high-value trade weighing; Class III covers general commercial weighing. Our NTEP guide explains the classes, and our legal-for-trade jewelry scale guide covers counter use.
Texas note: TDA does not require an NTEP certificate for every device, but the scale must meet NIST Handbook 44 and suit its use; some scales do need one, so we recommend NTEP models and can check yours. See TDA’s scales used in trade guidance (PDF), our TDA scale certification guide and what the RWM-780 placed-in-service form means, or call us or TDA to confirm your use.
The 0.01 g models: EK-120i to EK-610i
These five read 0.01 g on a 110 mm round stainless pan, for powders, small parts, seeds, samples and formulations. Pick by capacity: EK-120i (120 g), EK-200i (200 g), EK-300i (300 g), EK-410i (400 g) and EK-610i (600 g). Linearity is ±0.01 g on the two smallest and ±0.02 g on the rest. Torn between the EK-610i and the NTEP EK-1200i? That choice has its own guide: EK-1200i vs EK-610i.
The 0.1 g models: EK-600i to EK-6100i
Six models read 0.1 g on the 133 x 170 mm pan, for packing, kitting, portions, parts and trade weighing. The EK-600i (Class III) and EK-1200i (Class II) carry NTEP approval; the EK-2000i, EK-3000i, EK-4100i and EK-6100i trade the certificate for capacity up to 6 kg while keeping 0.1 g. Linearity is ±0.1 g up to 2000 g and ±0.2 g from 3000 g up.
The 1 g models: EK-6000i and EK-12Ki
For bulk material, larger containers and cartons. Both are NTEP approved: the EK-6000i at Class III and the EK-12Ki at Class II, and both have under-scale weighing on the certificate, with the under-hook kit sold separately.
How to choose an EK-i model
- Will it set a price by weight? Shortlist the four NTEP models first.
- Pick the readability your tolerance needs: 0.01 g, 0.1 g or 1 g.
- Pick the smallest capacity that covers your heaviest load plus the container.
- Check the pan: round 110 mm for small samples, 133 x 170 mm for parts, bags and containers.
- Decide on options: battery, comparator relay or under-hook. Our capacity and readability guide and tolerance calculator help with steps 2 and 3.
Options and accessories across the series
- EKW-09i NiMH battery pack (not included): fits every EK-i model; it shares the option slot with the comparator relay, so fit one or the other.
- Comparator relay output: not included; switches external lamps or alarms from the HI/OK/LO comparator.
- Under-hook kit: not included; fits the EK-4100i, EK-6000i, EK-6100i and EK-12Ki only.
- Replacement AC adapter for the EK-600i and EK-1200i: a spare, not included; one adapter ships with each balance.
- 500 g Class I calibration weight (not included): a daily check weight for the 600 g to 1200 g models.
Calibration cost by model
Our calibration tiers follow capacity. Models up to 2.2 kg (EK-120i through EK-2000i) are $95 in-house or $395 with a NIST certificate; 2.2 to 6.2 kg (EK-3000i, EK-4100i, EK-6000i, EK-6100i) are $195 / $495; the 12 kg EK-12Ki is $250 / $595. See what scale calibration costs, how often to calibrate and, for the EK-1200i, our step-by-step calibration guide.
Every EK-i model uses the same keys and menus, so our EK-1200i manual guide applies across the series.

Frequently asked questions
What models are in the A&D EK-i series?
Thirteen: EK-120i, EK-200i, EK-300i, EK-410i and EK-610i at 0.01 g; EK-600i, EK-1200i, EK-2000i, EK-3000i, EK-4100i and EK-6100i at 0.1 g; and EK-6000i and EK-12Ki at 1 g.
Which A&D EK-i balances are NTEP approved?
Four EK-i models are on NTEP Certificate of Conformance 04-019A3: the EK-1200i and EK-12Ki at Class II, and the EK-600i and EK-6000i at Class III.
What pan size do EK-i balances have?
The 0.01 g models (EK-120i to EK-610i) use a 110 mm round pan. All other EK-i models use a 133 x 170 mm rectangular pan.
Which EK-i balances can weigh below the balance with a hook?
The EK-4100i, EK-6000i, EK-6100i and EK-12Ki accept the under-hook kit, sold separately. The NTEP certificate covers under-scale weighing on the EK-6000i and EK-12Ki.
Do all EK-i models use the same battery?
Yes. The EKW-09i NiMH battery pack fits the whole EK-i series and is not included with the balance. It cannot be installed together with the comparator relay option.
How much does calibration cost for an EK-i balance?
It follows capacity: $95 in-house or $395 NIST for models up to 2.2 kg, $195 / $495 from 2.2 to 6.2 kg, and $250 / $595 for the 12 kg EK-12Ki.
Is an NTEP balance required in Texas?
TDA does not require an NTEP certificate for every device, but the scale must meet NIST Handbook 44 and suit its use; some scales do need one, so we recommend NTEP models and can check yours.
