Description
A&D EJ-54D2 Newton Dual-Range Balance: 0.0002 g Resolution in a Portable Package
The A&D Weighing EJ-54D2 is a dual-range compact balance from the Newton EJ series. It reads to 0.0002 g (0.2 mg) up to 22 g and to 0.001 g up to 52 g, on a footprint of only about 7.5 × 8.2 inches. A high-resolution load cell gives you milligram-and-better precision at a far lower price than a full analytical balance. It runs on its AC adapter or four AA batteries, so you can use it on the bench, at the reloading press, behind a jewelry counter, or out in the field.
Each range starts at zero. Light samples like powder charges, gemstones, and small lab specimens get the fine 0.0002 g reading, and the balance moves to 0.001 g readability above 22 g, up to its 52 g capacity. An anti-static breeze break with a sliding top shields the 50 mm stainless steel pan from drafts and static. A&D also includes a carat pan for gems and small pieces.

Applications
Ammunition Reloading: Powder Charges, Bullets, and Brass
Reloaders choose the EJ-54D2 to weigh powder charges and sort components. It switches to grains (gr) at the press of a key. The 52 g upper range (about 802 grains) covers single bullets and cases for weight sorting, and the 0.0002 g fine range works on charge weights. Battery operation means you can set it up anywhere on the bench, away from power strips.
Jewelry, Gold, and Gemstones
Weigh loose diamonds and colored stones in carats (ct) to 0.001 ct with the included carat pan. Gold and silver work reads in pennyweight (dwt), troy ounces (ozt), or grams, and pearls read in momme (mom). The compact size suits a bench, a counter, or a trade-show case. When you buy or sell by weight, pair it with one of our NTEP-approved gold and carat scales.
Laboratory, Education, and Field Research
Teaching labs, research groups, and quality-control benches use the EJ-54D2 for small samples, reagents, and test pieces. GLP output, ID numbers, and a lockable chassis fit multi-user labs, and battery power lets you take it into the field.
Pharmacy, Compounding Checks, and General Testing
Pharmacies, compounding labs, and testing departments use the EJ-54D2 for in-house checks of small doses, ingredient verification, and quality-control sampling. The 0.0002 g fine range handles small powder and capsule-fill weights, percent mode shows each component as a share of a reference mass, and GLP output through an optional interface documents results for your records.
Parts Counting, Formulation, and Hobby Work
Count tiny components with sample sizes of 5, 10, 25, 50, or 100 pieces and a minimum unit weight of 0.0002 g. Percent mode shows each addition as a share of a reference mass. Model builders, makers, and specialty crafters also rely on its fine readability for very small parts.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the A&D EJ-54D2 a good scale for weighing reloading powder?
Yes. Reloaders use the EJ-54D2 to weigh charges in grains. It reads to 0.0002 g in its 22 g range, has a draft-reducing breeze break, and runs on batteries, so you can set it up anywhere on the bench without a cord.
What is the EJ-54D2’s readability in carats?
In the 22 g (110 ct) fine range, the EJ-54D2 reads to 0.001 ct. A carat pan comes in the box for diamonds and gemstones.
How does the dual range work?
Both ranges start at zero. The balance reads to 0.0002 g up to 22 g, and from 22 g up to its 52 g capacity it reads to 0.001 g.
What calibration weight does the EJ-54D2 use?
A&D specifies a 50 g weight for external calibration. Use the one-touch CAL switch with our 50 g EJ-54D2 calibration weight.
Can MNM Scales calibrate the EJ-54D2 before it ships?
Yes. Choose in-house calibration with NIST-tested weights for $95, or NIST calibration with a NIST-traceable certificate for $395. Both are done in-house before your balance ships.
Can I connect the EJ-54D2 to a computer or printer?
Yes. Add the EJ-02 Quick USB interface to send readings straight into Excel or Word, the EJ-03 RS-232C interface for two-way communication and GLP printouts, or the EJ-27 wireless interface. One interface installs at a time.
EJ-54D2 vs. FX-120i or EJ-123: which should I choose?
Pick the EJ-54D2 when your samples weigh less than 22 g and you want 0.0002 g resolution, such as powder charges, gemstones, or small lab samples. For heavier items at 0.001 g, the EJ-123 and FX-120i go up to about 120 g. Call us and we’ll help you match the balance to your application.

James –
Let me preface these remarks by stating that this is the first time I have *ever* left seller feedback, but here I felt compelled to do so by the caliber of service provided. The scale I first purchased wasn’t quite right, so I called MNM scales.. Mary, one of the company’s founders and owners, found a scale perfectly suited to my needs and shipped it to me expeditiously at no extra charge!
