Description

A&D FX-120iN NTEP Precision Balance: 122 g × 0.001 g, Legal for Trade

The A&D Weighing FX-120iN is the NTEP-approved, legal-for-trade version of the best-selling FX-120i. It weighs up to 122 g, displays 0.001 g, and carries an NTEP Class II Certificate of Conformance with a certified division of e = 0.01 g. A&D’s patented Compact Super Hybrid Sensor (C-SHS) settles in about one second, so it keeps up at a busy jewelry counter, pharmacy, or dispensary.

In NTEP mode you can pick e = 10d (the default, showing 0.001 g with the last digit marked) or e = d for direct 0.01 g readings. A Measurement Canada mode is built in as well. The bright VFD display, small breeze break, and Ø130 mm stainless steel pan make small, light samples easy to weigh, and the standard RS-232C port connects the balance to a printer, PC, or point-of-sale system.

Key Features

  • 122 g × 0.001 g with 0.001 g repeatability and ±0.002 g linearity
  • NTEP Class II, CC 08-045: e = 0.01 g, nmax 12,200, for selling by weight
  • Selectable e = 10d or e = d in NTEP mode, plus a Measurement Canada mode
  • About 1-second stabilization with FAST, MID, and SLOW response settings
  • Compact Super Hybrid Sensor (C-SHS) with ±2 ppm/°C sensitivity drift and built-in overload protection
  • Small breeze break included (3.4 in. high) around the Ø130 mm stainless steel pan
  • Legal-for-trade units: grams, ounces, pounds, troy ounces, carats, and pennyweight, plus parts counting
  • Bright VFD display, refreshed 5, 10, or 20 times per second
  • GLP/GMP/GCP/ISO-compliant output through the standard RS-232C port
  • Optional upgrades: Quick USB (FXi-02), Ethernet with WinCT-Plus software (FXi-08), or a built-in rechargeable battery (FXi-09). One of these three installs at a time
  • Built-in underhook for below-balance weighing
  • 5-year A&D warranty

Applications

Jewelry, Diamonds, and Gemstones

Sell stones by the carat and gold by the pennyweight (dwt) or troy ounce (ozt) on a balance that’s approved for trade. The 122 g capacity covers loose stones, rings, chains, and small lots of scrap.

Pharmacy and Compounding

The FX-120iN is a fit for prescription filling and compounding where a Class II legal-for-trade balance is required, and for in-house dose checks and general testing.

Cannabis Dispensaries

Set it to e = d for direct 0.01 g readings at the counter, tare containers, and send each weight to your POS system through RS-232C.

Laboratory and Quality Control

Labs and QC departments use it for sample prep, formulation, and checkweighing. Switch to A&D standard mode for non-trade work and you get the full unit set, including grains, plus percent mode and statistics.

Manuals and Documents

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the A&D FX-120iN legal for trade?

Yes. The FX-120iN is NTEP Class II approved under Certificate of Conformance 08-045, with e = 0.01 g. Your state may also require the balance to be registered, inspected, and sealed before it goes into service.

What is the difference between the FX-120iN and the FX-120i?

They share the same 122 g × 0.001 g sensor. The FX-120iN adds NTEP legal-for-trade modes, a ZERO and TARE key layout, and sealing provisions. The FX-120i is for reloading, lab, and other non-trade use.

What is the difference between e = 10d and e = d?

In e = 10d (the default), the balance displays 0.001 g but only the 0.01 g digit is certified, and the last digit is marked. In e = d, it displays 0.01 g directly. Both settings are NTEP-approved, and the e = d front label comes in the box.

Can I use the FX-120iN for reloading?

Yes. Grains aren’t an NTEP unit, so set the balance to A&D standard mode for reloading, and it reads to 0.02 grain just like the FX-120i.

What calibration weight does the FX-120iN use?

A&D lists 100 g or 50 g weights for external calibration. A weight is not included with the balance. Use our 100 g calibration weight, or have us calibrate the balance before it ships.

Can MNM Scales calibrate the FX-120iN before it ships?

Yes. Choose in-house calibration with a certificate, using NIST-tested weights, for $95, or NIST calibration with a NIST-traceable certificate for $395. Both are done in-house before your balance ships.

Can I connect the FX-120iN to a computer, printer, or POS system?

Yes. RS-232C is built in. Add the FXi-02 Quick USB interface to send readings straight into Excel or Word, or the FXi-08 Ethernet interface for networked balances. Install the option before the balance is sealed.
